Dr Rose MUKANKOMEJE calls for Rwanda National Police support for Environmental compliance PDF Print E-mail

The second part of Environmental training was carried out in Rwamagana Eastern Province for more than 71 RNP staffs from Central, Easten and Northern Provinces.

There were traineed on the Organic Law No 04/2005 determining the modalities of protection, conservation and promotion of environment in Rwanda and asked for Rwanda National Police support in implementing this law for environmental compliance. RNP officers said that they benefited a lot from this training because they were unaware of different preventive and punitive provisions of the Environment Organic Law. Mastering this law will help them monitor Environmental compliance by the population whose safety is under RNP responsibility.

In their recommendations, trainees asked for a special unity for environment that will work closely with REMA to investigate environmental crimes. Dr Rose MUKANKOMEJE Director General of welcomed the idea and said it will be subject to debate between concerned institutions.

The second round of RNP environmental training came after the first round has held in Huye and put together RNP officers from Southern and Western Province.
