REMA trains private sector members on the environment and climate change mainstreaming.

REMA in partnership with the Poverty & Environment Initiative (PEI) and the Private Sector Federation (PSF)is organizing national training workshops on the environment and climate change mainstreaming and the implementation of Rio Conventions for Private Sector Members.

The objective of these training workshops which kicked off yesterday 27th February in Karongi district, Western province and are expected to cover all 4 provinces and the City of Kigali, is to mainstream environment and climate change in all the activities that the private sector is undertaking and to learn how Multilateral Environment Agreements(MEAs) especially Rio conventions can be implemented by private sector members through providing them with skills and relevant knowledge that are needed to deal with global environmental problems and establish new measures to be taken in order to ensure efficient implementation for sustainable development.

Improved Cookstove Program for Rwanda

 The SSC-CPA will apply SAVE80 cookstove, a state of the art of technology for efficient stove. It is a portable stove made of stainless steel, developed and prefabricated by a German manufacturer and assembled locally to create employment

   The project activity is a small hydro power project (SHP) which seeks to utilize the hydro resource of
the rivers Rukarara and Mushishiro to generate 5MW of electricity. This will be the first privately owned
and financed hydro power installation of this size in Rwanda.
